Values & Priorities

We need to stop wasting billions of dollars in Iraq and start investing in global warming solutions.

A Nobel Prize-winning economist has estimated that we’ll spend at least $2 TRILLION in Iraq before all is said and done. A shocking amount of this money is being wasted or stolen by companies such as Blackwater USA and Halliburton. In fact, a congressional oversight committee has identified $28 billion in private contracts in Iraq “plagued by fraud, waste, abuse, or mismanagement.” And, the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction has called corruption “the second insurgency.”

Meanwhile, global warming threatens our very way of life—and the Bush Administration has obstructed international progress and refused to make the basic investments that can preserve our health and safety. We can have cleaner, safer power and protect our national security through energy independence. We need a new direction.

Our Common Values

We all have our favorite issues. Our program director, Adam is kind of a nerd, and he’s really into campaign finance reform. But, what binds us together as progressives is a set of common values that differentiate us from the right wing reactionaries.

Building The Progressive Movement

We didn’t start Progressive Future just to push for progress on individual issues. We’re all concerned about more than just global warming and the right to choose. We care about the whole package—and that’s why we need a strong, cohesive progressive movement that will battle the right wing on all fronts.

Sound Off On The Issues
