$4 gas = Big Oil profits
With gas prices soaring, average Americans are having to make some tough choices. Will they use their ever-dwindling dollars to buy a $4 gallon of milk or a $4 gallon of gas?
But you can bet the Big Oil CEO's aren't worrying about that, courtesy of record high profits and tax breaks provided by the Bush administration. ExxonMobil alone is on pace to rake in nearly $44 billion this year.
These oil companies need to be paying their fair share. We need to eliminate special breaks for these wealthy corporations and invest that money in renewable technologies that will sustain our communities instead of destroy the environment. We need an energy future that increases our security, not one that gets us deeper in the hole of reliance of foreign oil. And most of all, we need to stop oil companies from ratcheting up prices at an outrageous rate.
American families don't have time to wait for new leadership. We need to take action now. Join us in asking Congress to put Consumers First this summer by passing the Consumers First Energy Act. Petition Text:
I'm tired of watching Big Oil CEO's line their pockets with record profits while my family and I struggle to get by. Please put consumers first this summer – co-sponsor the Consumers First Energy Act.
